Unemployment · Benefit appeals · Overpayment notices

Unemployment denied or trying to claw back? You have 10–30 days to appeal.

Most UI denials reverse on appeal — but the filing windows are brutal. Misconduct findings, voluntary-quit determinations, overpayment notices: all appealable. State ALJ hearings are free and the reversal rate is 30–50%.

If any of this is happening to you

We have the playbook for your exact situation.

Denied for 'misconduct' after a termination you don't think qualifies

Denied for 'voluntary quit' after constructive discharge or unsafe conditions

Overpayment notice demanding repayment of benefits you already received

Employer contesting your eligibility based on disputed facts

The law on your side

State Unemployment Insurance Acts

Authority

Varies by state · Federal UIPL guidance

Each state has its own UI act with appeal windows that range from 10 days (Texas) to 30 days (NY). Missing the deadline ends the appeal route. ALJ hearings are free, recorded, and reversible — most claimants who actually appear win their appeal.

The process

Three steps. The agent does the rest.

01

Send us the bill.

Upload the document — bill, denial letter, deposit itemization, collection notice. We read it, identify which protections in State apply to your specific facts, and tell you what we’d recover. Free triage.

02

Approve the plan.

We show you the theory of the case — which laws apply, which letters we’d send, what the recovery range looks like. Nothing goes out until you say go.

03

We do the rest.

Certified mail, deadline tracking, response parsing, escalation when ignored. You only hear from us when there’s a decision to make. Most cases resolve in under 30 days.

Questions, answered

Common questions.

  • Maybe not. Most states allow late appeals for 'good cause' — illness, didn't receive notice, language barrier. We assess and file the good-cause petition where applicable. The standard is forgiving for first-time claimants.

  • Founders deal — First month of subscription is free for waitlist members ($19 base fee waived). Per-action fees (certified mail, agency filings, notary services) still pass through at cost. No contingency cuts on what you recover. Offer closes when we open to the public.
  • Referral program — When a friend signs up through your share link and makes their first transaction of $5 or more (any subscription or per-action charge), you and your friend each unlock 1 free month of subscription. There is no cap on how many free months you can stack. Free months don’t expire and are not clawed back if your friend later cancels.
  • Email & privacy — No credit card required to join. We won’t email you again until we’re live. Cancel your subscription anytime after launch.
