Is my used car covered?

Depends on state and circumstances. FTC's Used Car Rule (16 CFR Part 455) covers undisclosed material defects regardless of state. Some states (NY, MA, NJ, RI) extend lemon law to certified-used vehicles. Used cars with original warranty remaining may still trigger Magnuson-Moss.

Magnuson-Moss is federal: prevailing consumers get attorney's fees from the manufacturer, which is why lawyers take these on contingency. State lemon laws define 'reasonable number of repair attempts' (typically 4 for the same defect, or 30 cumulative days OOS in 18 months).
